Introduction/Background

Anukulan BRACED is a DFID UK funded project which is being implemented in 6 districts in western Nepal aiming to serve 500,000 population to build their resilience through Catalyzing behavioral change in poor, vulnerable rural communities. Improving the health, nutrition and livelihood condition with climate smart action and mitigating the disaster risk in the project location.

NTAG has been working as a consortium partner in the Anukulan Braced project to organize capacity building trainings to the farmers and 1000 days mother on maternal infant and young child nutrition. Two different level of trainings is being conducted i.e. intensive and light trainings.

  • Intensive trainings are designed for the farmer’s group belonging from 1000 days family for the period of three months. It lasts for 1-2 hours per day due to the time constraint of the farmers and mothers to look after their family and do their day to day work. The beneficiaries for intensive training has been targeted to 4,746.
  • Light trainings are designed for the farmer’s group that doesn’t belong to a 1000 days family. It lasts for 4-5 hours and only for a day. The beneficiaries for light training has been targeted to 20,972.
Goal and Objectives (Specific) Anukulan was developed specifically to overcome this challenge by helping half a million poor and vulnerable people in rural Nepal build their resilience to climate change impacts like floods and drought.

  • Poor people reduce vulnerability to climate related shocks and stresses
  • Local government, civil society and private sector are better able to respond to climate related shocks and stresses.
  • Better understanding of what works in building resilience to climate related shocks and stresses and integration into disaster risk reduction approaches.
  • Improved policies integrating disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation are in place at local and national levels.
